Opening Hours

The centre opens at 8:00am & closes at 6:00pm from Monday to Friday, and care is available on a full day basis only. We are open for 51 weeks of the year with the exception of certain public holidays (in conjunction with the University of Melbourne public holiday calendar).

Meals

Lunch, morning-tea & afternoon-tea are all prepared daily at the centre by our onsite cook for those children over 12 months of age. Vegetarian meals and specialised diets are catered for in conjunction with parents, and the daily main cooked meal works on an eight week rotating menu for summer & winter. We have also introduced a number of meals based on indigenous flavours and ingredients.

Fees

Current fees from January 2024 are $177.50 per day, with a discounted Kindergarten fee during school term time. Fees are charged for 51 weeks of the year, which includes public holidays. You may be eligible for a Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which is income tested and paid directly to child care providers to reduce the fees that eligible families pay. You must apply for this through Centrelink.  We also charge an annual building levy to fund ongoing structural improvements to playgrounds and rooms.

Volunteering

The Melbourne University Family Club is a co-operative registered under the Co-operative Act, and can only run at its best when its members become involved. The centre has a Board of Management consisting of eight parents, and each family is required to volunteer at 2 working bees or on a sub-committee.

"The staff are so warm, friendly and amazingly capable - whether settling babies in the nursery, teaching toddlers a new song, or encouraging creativity, imaginative play and fostering social skills with a group of kinder kids"
